Artistic Restart.
I have hit the restart button (again). This time, I have a clearer vision for this blog and it will be a way of supporting my practice as an artist. Since my last post a lot has happened. I am currently studying Contemporary Art Practice at Gray’s School of Art and I have just started the second semester of my second year.
The Gab Eye was created as a space to share my observations on anything. I was only 12 when I started, and now I’m 20, so let’s give this blog another go. Maybe it wasn’t a lack of a vision, but lack of discipline, time and determination for the past 8 years. However, now that art is a full time occupant of my life writing about it should be easier this time.
You will find here my projects and their evolvement; development of proccesses; artist research and anything that I may find that has influenced and impacted my practice. Before I do, I want to reintroduce myself.
My name is Gabi, I am 20 years old and an art student. I was born in Poland and moved to the UK at the age of 5 but I am still very closely in touch with my heritage. Since a little girl I have wanted to be a teacher, dancer, actress, sportswoman, architect, musician, art therapist and lastly an artist. I am an artist and yet I can’t imagine being one. Yes, I know… that doesn’t make sense. It’s just that I can’t envision what it will be like once I finish my studies (but more on that later and about the precarity of the occupation). I am opinionated, headstrong, a bit crazy and a bit weird. God and family are my priorities in life.
That is all for now. Art is very personal and soon enough you’ll learn more about me, without reading my words.
Till next time!
The Gab Eye
(It felt good to sign off like that again. Good to be back!)
