Otwarte Pracownie ASP Warsaw
It has been a year since I graduated. Finishing art school I had sold my main diploma piece, had an exhibition coming up and I received an award. It seemed like a great beginning to my career as an artist. However… I moved to Poland so the connections and education about the art industry in the UK that I had gained weren’t as helpful. Warsaw has a very strong Fine Art Academy, how am I going to stand out or even compare?
I signed up for the open workshops at the Academy. My main goal was to see how far behind I was in terms of basic skills in sculpture. I joined the Sculpture Foundations workshop and wood workshop. So, twice a month I felt like an artist again. Unfortunately, combining this with a full-time job (that was becoming more and more demanding) was a struggle. There was also the battle with the expectations I had of myself.

I wanted to write up a summary of my experience and thoughts… but for some reason, I can’t find the words. There is a lot of personal reflection within this. I know this: I’m not finished yet.
Final pieces still to be photographed (and finished… going away to Colombia for a month didn’t help in that respect).
Take care y’all.
